I have this codec in my computer, 'Intervideo Audio Decoder', which messes up mp3 playback in applications that use the default codec offered - like wmp.
I don't have intervideo anything installed, and the codec isn't showing in sounds and multimedia.
How can I get rid of the codec, when I can't locate it?
When you're in 'Sounds and Audio Devices Properties' (XP) click on the 'Hardware' tab. Go down to 'Audio Codecs' and double-click it. Click on the 'Properties' tab and disable the offending codec.
Intervideo makes WinDVD don't they? Do you have that installed? Maybe you have to keep it if WinDVD is on your machine. I haven't used WinDVD in ages, but maybe there's a way to disable it in the app itself. If it's installed of course.
