8x vs. 4x capability
Is the 8x hype still just a marketing gimmick, as it was when 8x capable cards came out?
Seems that the consensus then, was that the graphics cards out at the time couldn't fill up the 4x pipe, so the 8x capability could not be utilized.
Is this still the case? ( I tried doing a search, but couldn't come up with any past threads concerning this. . .honestly, I didn't try real hard- lol ).

Still all hype.
Esp. with most of todays cards having 64-128 meg on them, and most games coded with textures that don't use more than 32meg.

8X is 2 times faster and is very usefull with 3D Development but for Games, there is no difference in speed.

8x is NOT 2x faster in overall performance, only in memory swaps between the video card and system memory. It has ZERO effect on the actual speed of the GPU.
Yes, there might me a slight difference in some specific 3d development or CAD apps where large amounts of data needs to be transferred, but certainly not anywhere near a double in total performance under ANY means.
Please, show me any test in any app that shows 8xAGP is actually double the speed in overall performance over 4x...

Right. Besides, even if it were true, 8x is only 1x faster than 4x. 2x AS FAST, but only once faster.
