Is my 2400+ a 3200+??

My 2400+ default speed is either 15x133 or 12x166 (motherboard sees both as 2400) = 2GHZ

The new 3200+ says they run at 2GHZ. Is mine a 3200+ in disguise?? What's the difference between the two?

Your cpu is a tbred right? The 3200 is a barton and have bigger cache (512 vs 256) and faster fsb (400 vs 266/333). The 3200 really runs at 2.2ghz not 2ghz.

Then what does that make my 2600+@2.3?

so if I were to overclock to the point that my motherboard sees it as a 3200, would it be equivilant to a barton 3200, or faster?

Slightly slower as your CPU has 256K L2 cache and a Barton cor CPU has 512K L2 cache. You may very well be able to reach 2.3-2.4 Ghz though with your processor.

I overclocked my 2500+ Barton to 3200+ Barton..... At an amazing 2553 MHZ. Runs at 31 c and never fails. I benched a 16003..... A7N8X motherboard is great with 2500's.

That's great! What are you doing for cooling? What vCore setting? Do you have a screen shot from wCPUid (or similar).
