AOL win2k shutdown issue

i have an issue with AOL and windows 2000 and there is a conflict issue that i was wondering if anyone has come across?

It seems that occasionally thecomputer will shutdown when i either switch screen name or close AOL from the X in upper right-hand corner of the AOL window.

I am running widnows 2k SP3 and have AOL 9.0.

Motherboard is Asus A7n8x Deluxe. Raid and Non Raid. (THis si actually happening on 2 different computers. same specs except one has a SATA HDD and the other has IDE)

I am connecting through AOL vioa my SBC DSL connection whicgh comes throgh a SMC router. I have flashed the BIOS on both systems to the latest version 1007 and the problem still presists.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Is AOL connected as TCP/IP or under "home network". I'm not sure why but it seems to make a difference.

Does it matter whether you access any video while using AOL? That would involve RealPlayer.

Have you tried clearing out the AOL adapters and rebuilding them?

I'm just thinking of any many things as come to mind.

i will look into those things. I know it's not on "home network" because i setup a new location. Should it be on "home network"?

I haven't tried accessing video and i will see what is wrong, if anything, with the AOL adapters

When you access video and maybe audio in AOL, you're using RealPlayer, one of those programs that doesn't necessarily play by the Win 2K rules. So exiting may cause problems.
