as far as I know yes....of course with laptop drives you have the different rpms just like with a regular computer except laptops start at 4200 rpm then 5400 and I have seen some 7200 rpm models....so you can get better performance with a higher rpm drive but it will also be a little hotter/louder.
I suppose also a higher rpm will use more battery power
