Controllor causes reboot

Everytime I go to install mt game controllor. It flashes a blue screen full of text, and then reboots.I can't read it,it's gone too fast

This is a fresh install of XP Pro
850 Duron
MOBO Unknown
M$ Sidewinder
Onboard Sound
GF 4 AGP
Modem
30 GB HDD
CD-ROM
CD-RW

Everything else workes excellent so far.Is this just a controllor gone bad?Or something I can remedey easily?

OK what I have found out is that the gameport is having a conflict with something, probably the modem.Moving the modem doesn't relieve the problem though.I only have 3 choices as far as slots go.
Sound is onboard,as well as NIC,and USB.I disabled the NIC in the BIOS no joy.I reset the configuration in the BIos as well,no help either.
Tried different sound drivers, notta. The sound does work, just the gameport is not working.
This is an HP Pavilion 7800 with a PcTel HSF56 Micro Modem.I am having trouble finding the drivers for the modem as well.I'm using the ones that XP loaded during setup. It has the VIA chipset, haven't pulled the heatsink off to see what chipset, and woould rather not if I can get out of it.
TIA
BC

Pay no attention to Optimus Prime.. ^^^ Just look at those self-portrait smileys! He's got a green head, no nose, and 3 extra large teeth, not to mention his eye randomly closes for no apparent reason. (<-- Don't you dare make fun of my tongue!)

For future reference, brainchild, the blue screen errors vanish immediately because Windows XP is set to automatically restart after an error like that.

You can disable this automatic restarting (so you can read the blue screen error) by:
Control panel -> System -> [Advanced] tab -> Startup and Recovery [Settings] -> Uncheck [ ] Automatically restart

PcTel HSF56 Micro Modem
They are being made by someone else or were sold out. I forget. But I toos erached for drivers for a similar modem. Unsupported is basically what it is for now. Just use the generic winder drivers as the modem is PURE software defind by the HSf part of name. THey are SLLLLLLOOOOOOW, hehe.
