Toshiba Satellite 5005-s504 wont boot

I have a toshiba satellite 5005-s504. It wont boot and when the power button is pushed the power plug light flashes amber in a pattern. The pattern is short-long-short-short-long-long-long-long It does not matter if its being powered by ac or battery. I think it might be the power supply from looking at other posts. Would it be worth replacing the main board if thats the problem?
Thanks

If you think it is the Power Supply, why would you replace the MotherBoard? Try swapping the power cable and box out and see if that helps. If not then you are going to have to open the thing up...be careful and take pictures as you go aolng. There are alot of small parts and screws. You will prolly get a used motherboard for around $500.00.

I've got the same problem with my satellite 5005-S504. I've been able to reboot by unplugging the power cord, then removing the battery and re-installing it. I then plug the power cord back in and let the battery charge for about 1/2 hour. At that point all is well for a while. I'm suspecting a battery at the end of its life and plan to replace it.
