'Damn Small Linux' and internet problems

Just got 'Damn Small Linux' up and running but i dont have the internet. So far im liking Linux but not having the internet on it is annoying.

I have cable internet and the only thing i know about it is that it says "terayon TJ615"

I've only been using linux for 3 hours so i dont really know what im doing.

I've been searching google and none of the results help.

Whats it going to take to get the internet up and running?

Are you using the modem through an NIC, or USB? I'd avoid the USB option at all costs, but that's just me.

That, my freind, is probably your problem. Switch to a normal patch cable and your troubles should go away.

I only had to do that when switching computers. The modem latches on to a MAC address which really should remain the same no matter what OS you boot.

Still no internet. Maybe I'll switch to a more documented and mainstream version.

On a side note, do most linux versions have the "Kill Client" option for applications? I'm lovin' that....

Kill Client? What's that? You mean like CTL-ALT-DEL/force quit in the Windows world? Hey gimme some slack it's been a while since I used Linux.

Did you make sure your USB nic card is working ok? Any link lights on the USB NIC?

I am not sure but I have a feeling that that Distro doesnt' support USB devices.. but not sure. Might wanna check that out.
