hallpass is on a distinguished road
Systems hdd problem

can not format hard drive, os sends error that special driver needed (western digital) will not load win xp because of this error. can someone help.

Could you tell us the exact error message you are seeing?

Maybe something that Western Digital's Software could help? (Try the diagnostic utilities or maybe even the Data Lifeguard utilities)

Probably a new large HD. Download drive setup software from drive mfr's web site and install it to a bootable floppy on a friend's machine. Once you have the drive partitioned, Win install should go just fine.

exact error: partmgr. sys .PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA THIS WAS AT TOP OF PAGE.

Yup, I'd agree. The Data Lifeguard Tools V. 11.0 should help you out (see the original link I posted). You can make a floppy disk to use to initialize your drive.
