how to remove device driver completely in Windows XP?

I have a PSX Joystick converted to PC using pararrel port, I installed a driver but it didn't work as good, so I download another from internet (different author) the new one is very good but everytime I uninstall the old driver the next restart in device manager appeared the old driver mention that PSX joystick found.
There in Game controller in controlpanel shows dublicate items which both properties are working with no problem, I can calibrate the same PSX joystick in both difference driver (device?).

So.... how to remove the old one? <--- actually the question is so short

Boot to safe mode and remove all references to the joystick, not just the old one, reboot and let windoz find the new joystick and then install the new drivers. :-)
