what do i have to do to format my HD partition?

how should i store my important files, like MP3 or photoshop files etc.

several differant ways to do it,
is it ntfs file system ?
1. windows explorer, right click on the drive, drop down window should have the format option

2. my computer, right click on the drive, properites, format.

3 control panel, adminstrator tools, drive management.

doing this from memory, double check these

what should be my cluster size? 1kb?

I thinl the default is 512, but the smaller the better
it will have fragmentation and less trouble, you really don't want the clusters to be too big or too small, its kinda your choice.

so somewhere around 512 is good? i chosed 1kb, i will have some giant files on this HD, but also some small ones, maybe i should make two partitions
