Sudden select all

I have this odd problem. Whenever I type something in input box (whether it be address bar of ie, or some other) windows sometimes selects everything I've written in the middle of writing.
And of course, the fast typer I am, I press the next letter that's supposed to come, and the whole thing I've been writing disappears to bit-heaven.

What could be causing these select alls? I don't remember doing anything particular for them to start happen.

os is wxp.

Adaware does not find anything, and trends housecall finishes clean.

//edit: No, I did not try spybot. I've been under the impression that they detect about the same stuff. Am I wrong with my assumption?

Sounds like "auto complete" is working well. IE->Tools->Content->Auto Complete

yes very much so as far as I know.
I'm betting that you will find a lot of spyware on your system if you have never run it.

I don;t think this problem is connected with auto complete

Well, spybot detected many false-positives. But nothing extraordinary.

The problem was, however, not fixed.
