Gaming VERY Urgent!!!! Computer not doing well AT ALL

Hey guys, I really need your help here.

This morning I got home from a LAN party, and my system decided not to work. First, it said the IDE drives weren't detected, so I reseated the IDE cables and power connectors, then it froze before it detected the IDE drives. So, I unplugged the HDs and tried booting up, and nothing came on the screen, only my fans (including CPU) started spinning. Me and Bob the Great tried using a different Power Supply too, and it did the same thing. We also tried clearing the CMOS.

Someone please help me!!! I'm getting desperate. My thoughts were it is either the video card (which I tried reseating too) or the CPU. However, the computer doesn't beep at all, so I am thinking CPU.

Any help would be VERY greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot!
Jon

Doesnt the mobo normally beep when the cpu is dead or not? I think it does but im not sure. Have you removed the cmos batt, and replaced it? Maybe you need to try the cpu on another system. If you have another computer to try on, I would suggest that. I wouldnt think your cpu would be dead, unless something major happened to it (bumping, shock, etc...)

does your board have onboard video? try using that if it does.

I am making guesses, but it may help.

Did you actually do what BpB suggested?

Quote:
"Remove the board from the case, place it on a soft, non-conductive surface near the case and plug in the ATX power. Leave in the CPU and RAM. Place the Vid card in and connect the monitor. Connect the power. Nothing else needs to be connected. Press down hard on the vid card and use your screwdriver to short the POWER BUTTON pins. See if it POSTs.
It is necessary to get completely down to the bare basics with this kind of problem..setup outside of the case with only one stick of ram, cpu/hsf attached, video card and monitor..thats it..nothing else..see if it posts and we can go from there..right now you are not telling people what you are doing exactly.

People trying to help cannot work with vague answers..we must see what you see and know every move you make in order to try to help.

remove everything and do just what bovon said.

its the basics where we can start to troubleshoot.

board, proc, hsf, vid card, memory...

dont forget the power supply.
