merv62 is on a distinguished road

hello all i can't seem to keep my second computer from shuting down my monitor &hard drive i'm running xp pro on both no matter what i'v tried it keeps going down after about 15 min. any idea's !!! merv ps i'm running a linksys router if that makes a diff.my old comp. works just the way it should

There may be settings within the BIOS for this as well....

..but if you are unsure, check the motherboard manual before you go rootin around, just in case!

what power settings to you currently have it on?

two places to check...in control panel----power options look at the Power Schemes and Hibernate tabs.

tried those nothing works settings are -home office -monitor 20 min. hard disk never

How exactly does it shut down? Does it reboot, power off, or safely shut down?
Also please post your system specs as well and any other relavant information.

Does anything show up in the event viewer, also how is it shutting off in specific details? Does it go through the shut down sequence or does it do a cold off or what?

it just stays on the background screen for a bout 15 min then the screen goes dark and the h drive goes down.i'm thinking it might be in the bios i think i read somewhere that i should update the bios but i really don't know how??what is an event veiwer

an event viewer is something that shows what processes and programs are running on your computer
