Question About Hard Drives ?
I just installed a new 80GB HDD and in disk management it only shows as 76.3 GB. Where did the rest of my hard drive space go?
I understand that the system may use alittle to store the FAT (file allocation table, not type of filesystem), but does it really use that much?
What, if anything, can I do to gain most or all of my space back?

Most drive makers sell their drives based on:
Gig = 1,073,741,824 bytes
Windows on the other hand counts A gig as: 1,000,000,000 bytes

I got a 160GB SATA drive from Newegg last week, and it formated out to around 158GB, using Maxtor's drive utility disk. I think I gained a little more by using their utility, rather than fdisk and format. What did you use?
