Buzzing Sound from Sound Card (Mobo)

I'm running an Asus A7N8X Deluxe, which is running the latest nForce drivers for windows xp (3.13). Anyway, there is this constant buzz that comes from my speakers whenever I have them turned up a bit, I know its not my speakers because I recorded some stuff directly from the sound card and it got the buzz recorded with it. I'm not sure exactly what is causing to problem. If anyone knows anything about this or how to fix it I would greatly appreciate your help.

What kind of speaker setup have you got? Maybe your microphone isn't plugged in all the way? Check all your connections, one loose cord will do some funny things.

Check for grounding on the box and RF interference from any nearby stuff that may be sending a signal with interference.

i.e. cordless phone etc.

Yep-my cordless was plugged into my PC Surge unit and it caused hum. Before I got the one with noise filter.

I know for sure none of those are the problem because it has happened in three places I have brought my computer, I'm sure its something maybe to do with the driver or motherboard itself, just not sure of what. I think I remember when I installed the driver for the first time it stopped for a bit, then started again.

Alright, I've analyzed the problem more: It doesn't start until I actually log in, at the log in screen, and as it's booting up and stuff, no buzz.

Some ideas/things to try:

(1) Do you have any line/in or microphone devices plugged in? (For instance, a TV Tuner card can cause some contant 'humming' if the Line-In feeds from it)

(2) Open up the nVidia control panel, and start [x] Muting items. Some people find that the 'humming' vanishes when muting the Line-In, Aux, or Microphone

I have an Abit NF7-S V2 and have the same problem. Since this is soundstorm, it must be directly related. It initializes sometime during windows startup, so it is not a direct electrical interference. Muting even WAVE does not stop it, so it doesnt seem to be any sound outputting software. I have alsa muted the ones you reccomended to no avail.

Using the main mute will stop it, and an audible click can be heard. This must be in the drivers, becuase the click can be seen on the NVIDIA control display. But the slight fuzz also stops at this time. Since I use headphones, this can become annoying, but pulling the Master (not software) volume down to about 3/4 will make it a LOT less audible. This however is not the best solution, as I need as much of that volume as I can get, I no longer use an extremely amplifier with headphones (used to have spdif optical to reciever - but spdif support is hell in linux) I unfortunatly do not remember if optical output posed the same problem, or if this problem is experienced in linux. I will look into it for the linux issue, but I really don't feel like hooking up the optical stuff ago :-/ Is this something that cannot be avoided with high volume?

*update*
If the sound channels are in use, directly after this does not happen, only when the line is dead! I now assume that is something to do with the way the drivers or windows handles the sound hardware.
