ok, time to burn my gf4 ti4200
I have an Inno3D GeForce4 Ti4200 64MB AGP card, CRT out only and it is startg to get slower with every new game release...
My first question is: What do you think I can overclock it to without locking up the comptuer/causing everything to go wrong?
Secondly, what would you guys reccommend me cooling it with?
The stock HSF is on it, and I removed the fan because it stopped moving and put another little fan on it, but I don't know it that is enough.
LMK what you guys think, if overclocking would help my gaming at all.

With enough cooling, you can probably reach 300/275 (core/mem) with little effort.
As to cooling, I recommend reading our old GeForce Cooling Mod article... http://www.techimo.com/articles/index.pl?photo=42
As shown, the stock nVidia HSF is not a bad performer, just upgrade your replacement fan to a more powerful model if you are concerned about temperatures. Check any of the regular cooling vendors (like Plycon) for fan ideas.

Should I be getting any?

Do you need RAM sinks? Probably not. The difference with a stock GF-4 will be minimal. If you intend to voltage modify your card, then the answer is a definite YES.

Hey thats my article! hehe...
Like rob said, apply some nice thermal goop (as shown in the article, tho your heatsink will be different) & try to get a fan as good as or better than the stock one.
Also like rob said, without heatsinks on ya ram u should be fine unless ya are doing vmods'. Unless ya want em cuz they look cool hehe
When ya start overclocking, just take it bit by bit... Don't to anything major too quickly. Usually if you get lockup's it'll mean its ya core, so u've gone too far, and if you get funky looking pixels, textures or poly's it'll be ya ram which is pushed too far.

well, I lapped the heatsink, it looked like a cheese grater was ran across it. I also applied arctic silver to it.
What is a vmod?

I got it overclocked to:
295.77 Core
597.38 RAM
I had my core on 298 and the game froze for 20 seconds then I lowered it.
I saw one bad poly with my ram at 597, so I didn't go further.
What do you guys think?

You are right on the edge of the frequency levels for the Ti4600 (300/325). Not bad for a relatively unmodified Ti4200! | |

Wow I am aren't I!
I think I should go more
I want to see how fast my ram goes before it gets too crazy.
