The BIOS doesn't idle the CPU, so the temps should be higher than the ones sitting in Windows (2k/XP issue the HLT instruction, and you can do it with RAIN or CPUCool in 9x)
Also, check if there's a bios update out. I seem to remember some ASUS boards had incorrect reading of the temp in the BIOS. People were reporting that after the BIOS update, the temps apparently dropped as much as 15 degrees C.
The AsusProbe software wouldn't worry about that as it directly reads the SMbus so doesn't rely on the BIOS.
Also, is it reading the die temp or the socket temp? AthlonXPs and Morgan Durons have a thermal diode on the chip so you can more accurately monitor it.
Finally, check out a program like MBM or Speedfan and see if that gives you readings more similar to one or the other?
