you could always just hit the power button and hope for the best

then reformat your hd and start a fresh install, but you'll lose everything on your hd...

I've tried turning off the power , the XPh repair attempt comes right back up where it was stopped from .

when it does the reboot thing you need to remove the cd.
or do not hit the f1 key to boot from the cd.

what your doing is booting from the cd instead of the hard drive, because the bios is set to boot from the cd.

Hung up in repair install , set bios to boot from hdd only , no cd installed . System stops and waits for winXP cd to be reinstalled before continuing .
Does anyone know how to escape from the repair install one it has started ?

is there anything on the drive you need? you could always boot to a floppy and just format it for a fresh start....(for that matter you could just boot from cd and reformat.)

Stuck in repair installation , the system only picks up where it left off if booted from XP system cd disc or not . Cannot get to selection menu to choose fresh install . Only thing happens is the repair installation starts from where it left off , cycling .

Send a message via AIM to Gettinbye
You can use a 98 emergency boot disk (floppy) to run FDISK and format the drive that way. Then you'll be able to do a clean install.
