Good cheap power supplies?

Ok, I KNOW this gets posted every two weeks, lol...but I had to post it anyway, lol.

I need a decent power supply for some basic builds...nothing too fancy....would like to keep it under $25 at MOST....yes, building on a budget.

I know you can get cheap 400watters for like $14 sometimes etc but I have been burned a few times by those that are THAT cheap, lol...so I want the step up from that for those times when the el cheepos dont have enough 5v sb or whatever (like for k7s5a's)

I know Omardeth has one he recommends..I searched but not very diligently, lol..to find some posts but couldnt.

Any good ideas?

Thanks, JP

Hah, Anandtech did the review on it recently

People also have said that Allied PSU's are pretty good.

lol..that hilarious..thats the EXACT supply that I was just having terrible problems with..except it was a 400 watt version.

I ordered 2 of them..one died and one would give boot problems on a k7s5a and I noticed it only has 1a of 5v sb current.

Maybe the 500w is better but still....once bitten twice shy.

My Antec 400w PS just died tonight. Im using my old 230w ATM with about half my devices disconnected. I was thinking of buying the 400w allied PS from newegg.

Well here is the Achieve 500watt for $17 http://www.acortech.com/.sc/ms/cat/1...Power%20Supply

maybe it is stronger than the 400watter...I had 2 400watters from that same dealer above..one died after an xp build, the other just kept giving bad boots on a k7s5a.

Arrrgh.

Not all alleid 400w power supplies are the same.

The one at Deal sonic has higher ratings than the 2 at New Egg

Here's the one Omardeth recommended. I bought one and it works fine. It's $18 + $5 shipping.
