Systems laptop freezing problem

Hey,

I have a problem with my laptop: every time I start it in the morning it sometimes works in Windows for about 1-3 minutes, then freezes; sometimes it doesn't even start, sometimes goes black screen and freezes right before the booting process;

BUT when it's warm along the day, it works completely fantastic and with no problems at all.

Sometimes(one of the freezings) it goes blue screen, saying something like "fail in the non-paged space"...

I think this may be the problem with the memory or the CMOS battery, because it showed message "CMOS battery out of charge" once.

Can you suggest something or do you know where the problem resides??
Would appreciate any answers / suggestions.

[peace out]

What kind of laptop is it and what Windows operating system are you running? Any specs on the laptop would also be helpful.

You could try reseating the ram just in case one of the contacts are temperature sensative in its current position.

If it is a laptop where the ram slot is just an expansion of onboard RAM.... try removing the stick altogether and run off on board RAM only....this might verify/eliminate the stick of ram itself as the problem.

If that doesn't help try running the laptop in safe mode (VGA mode) for an extended period of time. If it is stable it might help verify the video controller chip/video ram as the problem. Temp problems with laptop video controllers are a common problem.

This laptop has only one chip of memory, it doesn't have onboard memory.

Now, for the whole morning, I'm trying to switch it on, but:-

1) it switches on, but the screen remains blank, and laptop doesn't react. It doesn't switch off with the power button.
2) First time in the morning (after night) it switched on and worked until on the welcome screen I chose user to log on, entered the password, and pressed Enter. Then it froze just on the welcome screen.
3) Once it switched on, and worked until the screen when Windows boots (with the "status bar") appeared. Then it froze again, just on that screen.

I don't know what to do. Can you help me?
What exactly is the problem with it?

Now, one of the successfull times of switching on:

All went good until I entered the password for the user, and pressed Enter. Then the Blue screen appeared, saying:

lot's of words like "Windows has detected... blah-bla....to prevent damage..."

AND

"Technical information:
*** Stop: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, ************* etc.)

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical dump complete.
Contact administrator... bla-bla"

I just downloaded new BIOS update, and new video adapter drivers. Currently I'm trying re-install the op. system.
Then, I'll install new video driver, and after that MAYBE will try to update BIOS..

Is that correct way of thinking in this situation???
