usb pen drives?

hey all, It was suggested I get a USB pen drive for some graphic stuff i'll be transporting to and fro, I don't know much about them though as in what to look for, reliable makers, and most of all are they worth it? do they hold up? any opinions/suggestions would be helpful, thanks in advance.

basically any brand will do, we use a couple different types at work and they all work just a great as the next one. the question you need to ask your self is what size do you need to fit all your work and how much is your budget?

Yeah, they work pretty well... I've got a PNY one and I haven't had any issues with it at all.

Do these things require any driver support or can you pretty much just plug them in anywhere?

Can USB Pen drives be erased by the metal detectors at Airports?

Just curious.

in windows xp/2k you just plug them in let windows load the drives and presto they are mounted without restarting

i think win98 might need you to load the drivers

Scott i have not heard anything about metal detectors effecting the drives

They usually come with Win98 drivers alone most on a mini disk or cd.

I've been using the 512meg & 1gig version of this... http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/def...spx?EDC=460720
... and both are holding up very well.

These kanguru devices do not require special drivers for W2K nor XP.

I've got a cruiser 256mb usb drive and it rocks. Came with kewl multi-colored caps too. (wasn't a selling point)

All of the driversfor this one are recogized upon install, just gotta use the "eject usb device" before unpluging.

This one is selling for as little as thirty dolars US.
