Laptop on?

Can I have a laptop on for days at a time. 24/7 as long as it is plugged in? I want to make it a server.


Everyheard of someone doing this?

Sure, keep a laptop on. I've kept a laptop on for months. It might help to elevate it (by placing it on some CD cases for example) so that it can get good air circulation.

Remember to go into the Power control panel, and make sure it isn't set to go to sleep or standby after [x] minutes/hours.

Otherwise, assuming good air circulation, you should be alright!

i run my laptop on my desk all the time. dont really shut it down unless i have a really good reason

just make sure none of the fans are blocked

There should be no issues. Just raise it off the desk. Use a one of those baking sheet cooling trays. That would ensure you get proper circulation on the bottom of the laptop.
