Gaming problem with office 2003 and outlook express

I recently installed XP Home on my parents' PIII 500Mhz. I also installed office 2003, since it is far superior to Word 2000, but I decided to let them keep using Outlook Express as their email utility instead of Outlook, because Express is what they were used to from back in the day. I decided it would be nice of me not to force them to learn a new program . Anyway, when my mom now receives emails with attachments that would normally be openable in Office 2003 (such as Word docs and spreadsheets) and she clicks on the little attachment thing to open them, the files iare greyed-out and she is unable to open them at all. My mom is not happy with me about this, especially since in the process of installing XP I majically made her address book disappear (an accident, I promise!). Please help!

It's a setting with OE's options. When you installed Office 2003 you also got IE 6 and OE 6 as part of the package. Once you uncheck that box it will work just fine.

OK, uncheck the box, sure, but the problem is, I have no idea which box you're referring to. I'm very grateful for your help, but if you please, a little clarification?
