Side-system

I really want a little extra system to download junk for me, do Seti, run my FTP, and take to LAN parties because my ultra-uber water-cooler is too hard to lug around. I went to everyone I know and tried to round up hardware

Here is what I have rounded up so far...

CASE: Free from really old 386 I found at school.
HD: Old 10GB I got. Upgrade later if needed.
Mem: $40 256MB PC3200
CPU: FREE Athlon XP 2200+ from friend
MOBO: $40 Soyo Kt400 Dragon Ultra from friend
Video: $20 G4 MX 440 from friend

Total: $100 for a system that will at least play CS easily.

Well....I'm proud.

Looks like you did some pretty good bargain hunting

I just wonder if that MB will fit into that old 386 case (AT vs ATX form factor). You'll also have to rig up a decent ATX power supply - an old AT PS from a 386 surely won't cut it.

oh crap... PSU.......

I think this is where that $20 Achieve 500w is going to come in.

I'm guessing the case holes won't fit with the mobo screw holes, but that is what a drill is for.

That case is probably beat up. Why don't u invest in a cheap ATX case instead?
