Upgrade Suggestions

I want to upgrade my system getting a new motherboard and AMD Athlon XP processor. Below are my current specs:

Gigabyte GA-7DXE mobo
512 MB DDR RAM PC2100
Chaintech GeForce4 MX440 64MB

I would like to get another motherboard and a Athlon XP 2400 Processor. Please, if you could, recommend the mobo from Gigabyte or Asus. Thanks!

how high are you willing to go for a new Motherboard, price-wise?

I haven't looked at the newest stuff out there to get from Asus or Gigabyte, or for that matter, any of the motherboard manufacturers, but the Abit Nf7-s is a pretty nice motherboard if you are looking for Soundstorm audio and a lot of really nice features from an excellent mobo manufacturer.

it's a start anyway

Go one up on the CPU to a 2500+ if it's an option. It has a higher fsb and L2 cache. Plus it's an easy oc to 3200+.

I would go with Asus for the mobo. A7n8x seem to be pretty good.
