Outdoors I'm going INSANE with these links!

I, too, am having problems with getting the hyperlinks to work in XP Pro. Some of the hyperlinks work, some don't. Plus, I cant even BEGIN to contemplate clicking on a javascript button.

I have:
Windows XP Pro Version 5.1 Service Pack 1
IE 6.0 Update Versions SP1; Q824145
Pentium 1.5 GHz
256 kb memory

I did the following:

1. Repaired IE 6.0
2. scf /scannow
3. Reinstalled IE 6.0
4. Downloaded Java Runtime Environment from Sun
5. Downloaded Jscript R.E. from Microsoft
6. Told my computer that I truly cared about it.

What else can I do??????

Rob

What kind of firewall do you run? Antivirus software? Popup blocker?

What happens when you click on a link?

btw, was this supposed to be part of another post?

Arrrrgh!

I have never added a pop-up blocker that I know about but, come to think of it, I haven't seen any of those devils around in a while. Could one have been installed without me knowing about it? And, why would anybody?

Antivirus = Trend PC-cillin has always been on this machine but I also installed AVG a year ago but never had this problem. Firewall is just the included Windows XP firewall.

Arrrrgh2!

Also, when I click on a link, (if it is a javascript link) I notice a faint flash on the Window Title Bar. Some regular hyperlinks work where others do not. (That's REALLY perplexing)

First off-have you scanned for spyware? If not, you might try running Spybot and Adaware (a google search will show you where to get these programs) to rule out spyware, malware, ect...
Second, while holding down the Ctrl key, try clicking one of the links that do not work...If they work with Ctrl pressed, please post back and we'll go from there...
Third, let's make sure the proper dll's are registered correctly by doing the following:
Go to Start > Run
At the prompt, type "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" (no quotes). Click OK. Try clicking one of the non-working hyperlinks.
If that does not resolve the problem, repeat the process by registering the following dll files (type regsvr32 before these at the prompt):
Shdocvw.dll
Shell32.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Browseui.dll
Mshtml.dll

After each one, try clicking on one of the non-working hyperlinks to see if it is now working...

If these steps do not fix your hyperlinks, we can take a look at your running processes and see if something is interfering...

I think the Spybot S&D did it! I don't seem to be having problems! (I hope). I also regsvr32 urlmon.dll but I had tried that awhile back. Maybe it didnt take!
