Ok, I seem to be unable to find the onboard sound driver for a customers HP 513n. I have looked everywhere I know and still no joy. I had to reformat and install windows XP from disc rather than recover from the HP recovery partition bacause its seems to be corrupt. Now I am stuck without sound and a unhappy customer.
If anybody out there knows where I can get the right driver or has it let me know.
According to Belarc it is a ASUSTeK P4G533LA REV 1.xx motherboard. It appears to have AC97 integrated sound.
Windows update didn't find anything, right now Windows thinks it is a Yamaha audio device. I have had luck in the past with the Yamaha drivers working for almost any card but not this time. The only thing I know to do is go into the registry and take it out. If I uninstall the drivers, as soon as I reboot Windows picks it up as a Yamaha again and thus the saga continues. I believe it is a AC97 but windows doesn't think so????
Actually its not specific in the device manager. Only Belarc will pick it up as a AC97 and I double checked it online to be sure belarc was correct. I have also tried windows update with no luck.
