Ghost and RAID 0

Hi y'all, I've got a RAID 0 setup and I'd like to back it up to DVD disks using ghost or another backup prog. I've heard that ghost won't write to a RAID if you try to restore from dvd disk to a RAID setup. I've got a onboard SATA RAID controller running two maxtor drives with winxp pro. Does anyone know about this?

I have been using ghost on a duel boot win98 fat32 & win2k ntfs Raid-0 for several years and it works fine, however I ghost the whole system to a HDD so I can't be sure about cds, I never tried that.

jeez I just spent the last two hours reloading winxp and all my programs. I tried to ghost my raid to dvd's. I made the boot disks but when ghost rebooted the machine it wouldn't boot up at all. It screwed up the MBR somehow, I think. I could see the files in DOS but windows wouldn't launch and it wouldn't run anything. It also re-assigned my C drive and made it a D drive. Weird. Couldn't even do a windows system repair or restore. Don't think I'll try using ghost again!

Krum,
Exact same problem for me today
I ordered the ghost from within windows. I've since read that when you do that, it creates a virtual partition for the ghosting operation, and then because the raid drivers are not in there, it won't recognize your array. I've also read that if you use Ghost thru DOS - and order the backup from there, with the -FNI switch, it will work.

dont blame ghost...ghost rocks!!

Just go to the website or find the faq for it...surely it supports raid..you just need to find the particular instructions..maybe it involves having raid drivers on a floppy or something...Im not sure cuz I have never worked with Raid..but ghost is like my right arm...

OK, I have got Ghost to work. At least to take a ghost image of my RAID 0 partition. I did this by using my ghost boot floppy and ordering the ghost from within DOS as opposed to Windows. The imaging to spanned CD-Rs was successful.

Now, next question is back to the main topic of this thread, will I be able to restore that image from my CD-Rs?? Anyone know?
