History folder

Good day.
Following on from my last post which I could not resolve. If I clear my 'history' folder, will I loose all my previously visited sites (ie: will the links change colour to their default unvisited colour)?
If this is the case then I am at a loss to my previously posted message...
Please can anyone throw any more light on my problem. Kind regards.

i dont think it will affect the link colors, i think that has to do with cookies? not 100% sure

Yep zipper, you will lose the colours, as described here

The history is stored in several index.dat files, one for each day/week/month, they are deleted by IE each week/month. But there is another index.dat under \history\history.Ie5

This one is used to store 'Visited' URL names, date and time stamps. This is the data used by I.E. for its AutoComplete function and controlling the highlighting of embedded links on the displayed Web pages.
