having what should be a simple problem to solve... networking windows :)
Hi all,
I have several computers in the same workgroup but on different subnets (not that I think that makes any difference for my question). I have various folders shared on these computers and move data back and forth all the time. However, when I try and connect to some of the computers, I am prompted with the typical windows USER NAME:/PASSWORD: window. the problem is that the user portion is greyed out and it says \\computername\GUEST.
I don't know why this is. It isn't there on every computer. I have the folders read only and on most of them, you are given the same prompt, but the user field is empty (which you have to use an account that has already been created on the various computers)...
can anyone give me the solution to my problem please??
thanks
