Saving office files at a different location

I am trying to save my office files at a different location on a regular basis. I am using office 2k and winXP. I've tried manually selecting the location hoping that windows will remember it the next time but that doesnt work. I was wondering if anyone knows any registry tweaks that can help me accomplish this.

different location meaning on another computer? through the network? or just on another folder?

In MS Word, this will be defined under Tools, Options, File Locations, Documents. In Excel, Tools, Options, General tab, default file location.
