keyboards wont work

is there part of windows that enable keyboards to work?
machine is Athlon sis chipset board , PS-2 port has no power thought it had blown, so i went out and bought a microsoft USB keyboard and this doesnt work either , it has power but nothing happens
using windows xp by the way

hmm... go into the device manager, and uninstall all keyboards... restart, and see if it picks up the ps2 or usb keyboard.

did you try another ps/2 keyboard just to see if it was blown?

i have tried another ps-2 keyboard and tried the first one in another machine. i would have thought a usb keyboard would work. i have tried uninstalling and re-installing but to no avail

What mobo do you have? Some need to have USB (DOS) keyboard support enabled in BIOS.
