PS2 and a wireless network

I am planning on getting the PS2 network adapter so i can play socom II over hte internet but was wondering what wireless network i should get. I would also like to hook up a laptop and 2 pc computers. I have comcast and am planning on upgrading to their home networking packeage which is like 5 more bucjs a month and supposedly gives you like 4mbps which i know is really crap but its gonna be faster than the regular so. Any suggestions. I would like a decent range for the laptop but nothing extreme.. thanks

would it be better to get a wireless router and then hook up the PS2 to it through the wired part of the router or get a wireless g game adapter from linksys. What do u suggest the Linksys WRT54G i think it is or the Dlink DI624. I went onto cnet and it says that the linksys does not have great range but that the dlink does. Would i be able to use the Linksys wireless g game adapter with the dlink router thanks

well wireless has come a long way, since it first came out. Since you want to hook up the ps2 in your room and dont want to run cables on the floor wireless is really your only solution. (there is powerline networking but might as well get wireless)

how far is the ps2 going to be from the router?

i have the Linksys WRT54G right now and dont have problems with distance.

well the router will probably be in the basement along with my ps2 and main pc. but i would like to be able to move the ps2 around it i have to so but if it doesnt work very well i will sacrafice it. how far can u go from the router while still have decent signal. thanks

it all depends on the walls, interference and what wireless card you get.

is it better to use the name of the router that you are using for the pc cards and pcmia cards. Im thinking stongly about getting the linksys because it will be easier to hook up and i have onyl heard good things about it. for pcs do u recommend a usb adapter or a pci card. thanks for ur answers they have been very helpful

you can mix wireless products as long as they are WIFI certifide. and they should say that on the box.

i have the linksys G router and i have used other wireless products besides linksys on it. i have used d-link, netgear and orinoco with it.

as for which adapter? to be honest im not really fond of USB, i still think its sketchy but it has come a long way. Some usb devices comes with a cable and attenna which you can stretch out for bettter distance. I would say PCI i tho because usb is limited to 11 mbps

ok well thanks. i have been readin reviews from people on newegg and they seem to say that it doesnt produce the best distance which just worries me and i am sure it isnt true or people wouldnt buy it but just want to be sure. about how far can u get away from your router with still decent through put. I am also thinking about Netgear heard anythign about them. thansk

to be honest i never really was a fan of netgear. dont know why i like d link and linksys

as for distance its hard to say, i know i can go outside with my laptop and still have a strong signal.
