Outdoors 2000pro always screwing up!

I run 2000 pro, It works fine on service pack 4 until i hit the windows updates. Then after that it wont let me join networks, game files get corrupted or out of date, unknown devices start popping up.

I dont get it what gives? Anyone know how i can fix this Networking problem?

I use the built- in Lan in an Abit NF7-S to network.

ok I go to network, both pc's have the same workgroup, i clcik the workgroup name, it says no ones available. The other pc shows itself but not my pc. I had this problem at a lan aprty too not too long ago and i could only see myself and one other person out of 9 others.

are you using a router to hook up the computers?

Check that ip address is consecutive, and the netmask and gateway are the same?

192.179.1.105 ->your pc
192.179.1.x ->other pc's on the network....

check that file/printer sharing is enabled on both systems.....

try the computer name:

start ---> run ----> \computer_name

If there is a connection it should open the other computer...
