Kids print screen function does not work

I've been reading the forums pretty regularly and I've notice a lot of people ask about doing screen shots. The reply usually is press print screen button on keyboard, open program like ms paint, and paste. For the hell of it I tried that while reading one of the theads. It didn't work. I have snagit so I really havn't had a need for it. But it makes me wonder why it doesn't work for me.
I'm using win98
ASUS a7n8x-x MB
old Belkin keyboard

I know it says on the button Print Screen/Sys Rq
I would think as new as my system is, this funtion would work.
Any Ideas????

tried alt-print screen

or when you try to paste are you trying to right click and paste? try instead using "ctrl-v" to paste

Another alternative to what JP posted is going to: Click Edit then paste from the menus.

Ill add my pasting issue to this....

one my other comp I used to use alt-print screen all the time etc..and when I went to paste in paint the screen was already maximized....the actual part of the paint screen I mean.....that was WinME....now on Win98 comp when I go to paste the paint screen is smaller....in other words its not maximized within paint itself and it always says "The image in the clipboard is larger than the bitmap, would you like the bitmap enlarged"

Uhh, how can I skip that step and have it start with the bitmap already maxed out?

jagnorm,

I have had that problem when pasting into certain applications. I don't know why, but the only program (on my older system), I can "print screen" and paste into is MS Paint.

Try opening Paint and Ctrl+V to paste, then save the image.

While in Paint, drag the corner of the canvas to the full size, then close paint w/o saving changes to untitled.

Next time you open it, it should open to the size you made it.

Gracias Mis Amigo.....I always miss the easy stuff. I did have to click on "select" first, or it wouldnt let me grab the corner.
