question msword2000- dots and P

once upon a time I was in word and did something to change the way the page looks.

now when I type anything in word, it gives me the dot in-between words and the paragraph symbol at every 'enter'.

I've searched online msword tutorials, asked that silly paperclip every thing I could, still, I am unable to come up with the correct question to have my problem answered.....

Sure hope someone can help............

(1) Pres Shift + F1 (or, visit the Format menu, and unselect "Reveal Formatting...")
(2) Then, simply uncheck the "[ ] Show all formatting marks" checkbox on the sidebar that appears.

These instructions should work for Office XP or 2003. Please list your version of Office if you don't have XP or 2003.

edit: simplified instructions

Office 2000....

shift F1, just comes up with an arrow and question mark, tried highlighting the doc too... didn't seem to help yet...

on the format menu, I was unable to find "Reveal Formatting"...
maybe office 2000 hides it?????

thanks rpertusio..... I sincerely appreciate your help, maybe I am still doing something wrong....

I looked up some info, but haven't tried it. You can do the same thing in Word 2000 by clicking the button that looks like: [¶] (the paragraph mark) on your toolbar. That will "Show/Hide ¶"

Try that one out!
