Sounds like maybe a bad hard drive or even the cd-rom may be bad. I sounds like its not ABLE to read the files. Try cleaning the XP disk, and remove any pci cards and extra drives you have on the machine and continue? I have had this happen, but it turned out the disk just needed a good cleaning.
Hope that helps.

Run a test on your memory. I've found that a lot of my problems with installing XP is due to bad memory.

Sounded like a recent problem I had with three different installs:
Bad RAM; BAD CD ROM; BAD HARD DRIVE!

Go to the link I gave above. Here it is again: www.memtest86.com
Since you think you have a bad CD-ROM drive, make a bootable floppy with Memtest86. Place it in your floppy drive, then turn on the computer. It will run tests on your memory.

Amazing--I'm having the same problem. I've replaced everything, including the ram, and I mean EVERYTHING except the motherboard and it still fails to copy (starting at georgiai.ttf). I am very interested to see what other ideas you senior members can come up with. |

Well, I ain't no genius, but I have had this problem before. I finally tried something real simple. Try clearing the CMOS first. If you still have the same problen, the BIOS may need to be flashed. If it's a Compaq or IBM board, you need the setup disks from IBM or Compaq to reset the bios.
