DVD-R "Copy Protection Error"

I've searched here and looked on dvdshrink's site, I can't find this answer!!!!!!!!!!

I do all the steps, and it'll fit on one DVD-R. Perfect up until I hit the "Backup!" button, and then I get a "Copy Protection Error" window, and I can't back up my legally purchased DVD. I just dropped $170 @ Staples and I'd like to think I can do this.

Somebody heeeeelp!

What software are you using to backup your DVD? What hardware?

Tried SWAT & American Pie 2. SWAT, maybe.. but AP2 is a dvd that you can't get much for used, so I ain't a bootlegger.

Software- DVDshrink, the latest dl'd last night.

Hardware- Brand new Memorex 4X from Staples.

American Pie 2 plays with PowerDVD, but SWAT just has a bad graphics screen that says "There is nothing wrong with this DVD. It is intended for unmodified Region 1 DVD Players".

This thing is right outta the box from Staples, I've never flashed anything. Except Michael Jackson.

Try opening the DVD that you want to backup with a viewer. I use Power DVD. Start the movie then pause it. Then try backing up the DVD with DVD shrink. This normally fixes any copy protection errors I get when backing up a DVD. I also have noticed that most people who are getting an error are using the newer DVDShrink 3.0 version. I use the 2.3 Version (I think that is the number) and I havent had any troubles. I might suggest getting a hold of the older version and trying that out. You should be able to find the program in the archive second of the DVDShrink Website.

Man, something needs to work, and quick. I could have watched the dvd and just remembered it by now.

I seriously didn't think it'd be like this.. If it takes past noon I'm returning this to Staples and waiting for the dual sided drives to come out.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!

I rip to ISO with DVDDecoder, mount the ISO, then use DVDShrink. It's another step but then I can transcode whenever and I never have problems.
