You can share files by right clicking on a file or folder and you should see an option for "sharing"...(usually people share stuff like "my documents")...if something is shared you should see a little hand under the folder....then the other comp should be able to see that folder when he looks in "My Network places".

One thing to check is if the comps are on the same "workgroup"....in XP Home the default name of the workgroup is "MSHOME" (I think, lol, I just woke up)...Im not sure what it is in XP Pro...it could be "workgroup" in XP Pro. Soooooo, you need to make sure they have the same workgroup name......if they are different you need to change one....right click "My computer" and you will see "computer name" tab....and on that should be a place to change the wqorkgroup name, then reboot and sometimes it takes a few minutes for stuff to start showing up in the other comps "My network places".

As for games, I guess they all have their own little ways to work...Im not a real gamer so Im not sure....I do remember setting up NFS3 once and if I remember you just have to type in the IP address of the other machine etc.

To get the IP address you can go to the DOS prompt and type in "ipconfig /all" and it gives you the IP and other info.

ok, what i did is this,

i went to the MY NETWORK PLACES on my desktop and i chose Set up a home or small office network.

then a wizard came out and i completed it which included, wheather the second computer and this computure is connected to the net. and what i chose was, this computer and my sisters computer has direct access to the net.
after that, it assk for the windows cd, or make a netowrk setup disk. and what i chose was to insert the winxp cd. after that it told me to go 2 the second PC and insert the Winxp cd and in autorun, theres a option to setup a network. that thats it.

then when i look in my documents or in C: and i right click on a file or folder it says SHARING AND SECURITY

so am i successful. is that it.

thanks

Send a message via Yahoo to Dax_Brandy
to play network games, you'll need to install the IPX protocol. im sure those sites/links say it all.
