Problem setting up Linksys Wireless 54G router

Hi,

I hope some one can help,

I recently purchased the Linksys Wireless 54G router and 2 wireless adapters, one for my laptop and one for my personal pc.

I hooked up the router to a third pc which I use to connect to the internet.

I Ran all the appropriate installs and:

1. The laptop can see my personal PC using the wireless network.
2. My personal PC can see the laptop using the wireless network.

But neither the personal PC or the laptop can see the third machine to which the router is attached...

?? Do I need to purchase a seperate wireless adapter/antenae for the machine to which the router is connected?

thanks for the help in advance
Rob.

so your saying you have the third pc connected to the router by cat 5 correct?

does the third computer have a link light on the router or on the network card to make sure you are getting a connection?

do you have all three computers in the same workgroup?

I will look something like this, asuming you have a 4 port Router...

Computer Wired connected on (1 to 4 port)
Broadband Wired connected to Wan port.
Laptop (wireless)
Computer (wireless)

This shoud be like the config you have.... make sure that the computer is hooked to 1 to 4 ports and not the WAN port (thats for the cable/dsl modem).

Hi Thanks for the responses,

Ok a bit more info..

All 3 machines
1 = my pc
2 = my laptop
3 = machine with wireless router

are running windows XP

machine 1 & 2 see a wireless network & eachother via the netwrok , but machine 3 does not see this wireless network.

Machine 3 is connected to the router via a network cable from its network card, if I disconnect this cable Machine 1 & 2 can no longer see each other.

As for workgroups, i don't think they apply with XP home networks.. I am unsure.

thanks for any further assistance.
Rob.

I tried to make an ASCII diagram didnt work like i wanted..

Well just one small question....

[Q] All 3 machines
1 = my pc
2 = my laptop
3 = machine with wireless router[/Q]

Check that File/Sharing is active on the 3 pc's, share a folder...

Have you tried with the computer hooked to the router..

Start ---> run --->"\computername"

See if they see each other.... it should open a window with the shared folders of that machine.

It will be better if the 3 machines has the same workgroup, if not look for the other workgroup in Network Neighborhood.
