Monitor Blank When Booting

I am running W2k Server on a Dell PowerEdge. When I turn on the server, the monitor's LED light changes from amber to green, then back to amber. There is nothing on the screen. There is no flashing cursor or anything. The monitor is fine. Works perfectly on another machine. The Server appears to be fine ie: disk activity light displays, cd-rom, tape drive, and floppy all engage, only the montitor is completely blank. Just before this happened the server was booted and mistakingly a win98 startup disk was in the floppy drive. When I realized this had happened I saw PCI bus scan complete with a flashing cursor. I removed the floppy and rebooted only to a blank screen. I have tried putting the W2K Server boot cd in the cd-rom, bot everything is still blank. Also tried booting from a different floppy. Same thing..blank screen. Any ideas anyone?

I would try a different video card (just for the heck of it..probably not your video system..but you won't know until its tested)

I would reset the BIOS to default with the jumper on the motherboard..or, not finding that..pull the battery for 5 minutes or so.

I have never installed Win2K by itself..only in a dual boot setup..so, I don't know what to tell you there. Too bad you don't have that drive cloned with ghost.

Maybe someone else here can offer some more help..
