Accesing neighbor's router

Here's the deal. I have a router and modem upstairs, and it is sending signals to three other computers in the house with all have wireless USB adapters. Everything works fine 85% of the time. For some reason, they keep wanting to connect to our neighbor's router. Instead of linksys showing up (our router), it shows some wire24lan, and they keep switching and trying to connect on theres. and its causing trouble and staying-connected issues. But works fine, once I redirect them to the linksys router. Is there any way I can lock them onto the linksys I have upstairs?
Thanks.
P.S- It is running on an open network. So basically anyone can connect onto our network Since we got it installed a year ago, I've never been able to figure out the whole wep thing and securing the network. (they only installed it on one pc via modem. We were left to buy the router and usb adapters , and do the networking....which has been half assed and open basically for the last year)

I presume your adapters will allow you to create "profiles" of connections. If you create a profile with a specific SSID then it should stay with that unless you change it. Check the documentation of the router and adapters on how to use profiles.

Cheers

yes there is

enable WEP on the router, insert the wep keys onto the computers, disable SSID, and enable mac filtering

your computers should only see your router after that. please refer to this thread for more info

also if you are running xp you can make it so it will only connect to your router

disable winxp wireless set up program

its worthless, use the software that came with your wireless card

if you enable everything on your router the only thing your computers will see if yours

software. what software. I never installed anything. just plugged in the router, plugged in the usb adapters and just crossed my fingers =\.... sad I know. I *attempted* to secure things and to get the pc's visable on the network, but after 4 hours I gave up *cry*.

Well, I found this tutorial online:
http://support.earthlink.net/mu/1/ps.../9186.psc.html

Followed everything it said, and all the computers got ****** up more. gettin one bar of signal on all of them. the bitch next store was the only showing up, its just horrible. I did get it working good now, and everyone has good speed........ I disabled everything and made it completely open. no firewalls, no proctection, NATA. works fine. >:-! I spent three more hours ******* with it. UGH. I hate this so much!!
