Master/slave problem
I recently added a wd ata100 80 gig to my system. My original hd is a wd ata66 13 gig. I set the 80's jumper to master, and the 13 to slave. However, it will always boot to the 13. I can see the 80 and can copy files over to it. The 13 has xp pro installed and is fat32 and the 80 has xp pro and is ntfs. I have the 80 connected to my primary master slot on my mobo, and the 13 shares the primary cable. A friend at work said that if I put the 13 on the same channel as the 80, it will slow the 80 down. Is this true? I tried the 13 as secondary slave, secondary master being my lg dvd player/cd burner combo. Still booted to the 13. My case has 3 slots at the bottom, so I have the 13 first, then the 80, then my floppy. I have 4 bigger slots on top, and am only using one of them for my combo. The bottom slots are for hd's and the top slots are for removeable media type devices, right? Read somewhere that you shouldn't stack hd's because of heating probs. Do I have to get rid of xp pro on my 13 before it will act as a slave?
