anyone with flash media reader experience?

Here's the problem, my apacer internal media reader is SLOW. It's a usb2.0 device that supports the common flash types and includes an usb port. The reason I know my reader is slow is that I have an external reader (usb1.1) that is accessing my files (digital photos) faster than my new apacer device. Foes anyone have any idea what might be happening? Oh and I even plugged my old reader into the usb port on the new apacer and it still worked just as fast. I know this might sound confusing but if anyone has any ideas I could use some help!

Running winXP

USB 2.0 is it on board or PCI?
Is the cable USB 2.0?
If onboard, did you run system disk(that had USB 2.0 drivers) assuming you built your own.
Whether you built or bought, did you install the latest service pack 1 that supports USB 2.0?

it is onboard.. the cable better be 2.0 as it's an internal drive and the cable is permanently connected to it..

but no I don't have sp1 installed... though I don't get why the 2.0 device would run slower than the the 1.1 device (it is backward compatible) I'll see if sp1 helps though

SP1 updates support USB2.Uninstall drivers for 2.0 run SP1 and updates then reinstall drivers and you should be OK

Well, it being "USB 2.0" doesn't mean it actually implements a High Speed interface. It might just as well be Full or Low speed, the same old stuff as in USB 1.x.

Yes, Full speed is slower than High speed. Don't ask.

hehe I love industry's naming schemes. This thing rocks now, my 2.5 mb image files pop up almost instantly, definitely faster than the external reader.
mmm I love newegg.
