54mbps my face

I bought a 54 mbps wireless card from mrtechus.com

frankly...it sucks...24 mbps seems to be the fastest stable speed it can handle, and it disconnects constantly (NOT SO GOOD WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING EVERQUEST AND HAVE TO RECCONECT THE THE SERVER IN THE MIDDLE OF BATTLING TONS OF ORCS). It was obviously a piece of crap, and considering i got it for 45 bucks...i shouldn't be surprised. Here is my question, do you think the overall build of the card is just bad or would getting a new antenna noticably increase my connection speed? (its a PCI) thank you

Well, you'll never really achieve 54MBps... Not even close actually. But as for the disconnecting issues, it could be a crappy card, or drivers. I've got a linksys 802.11b USB adapter and its horrible under windows XP but couldn't ask for anything better under WIN2k.

RamonGTP is right when they say 54 mbps they mean in theory. Plus there are so many different types of interfernce.


do you have the latest firmware updates for the router?
