Deleting a motherboard...

I have a AK-31 that I am going to swap for a A7N8X-X. I really dont want to do a complete windows reinstall. How do you go about deleting the drivers pertaining to the motherboard? They arent in add/remove programs or anything like that. I'm probably just missing something simple...Help!

Try going into 'Device Manger' and deleting any onboard drivers and chipset drivers that pertain to the mobo. The chipset drivers will be under System Devices.

If you really wanna ensure you get everything, just start at the top and go through and 'Uninstall' every driver you can. If it says you can't, finish the list and go back to it. It might be removed w/ another device or go away after you remove a device.

IF you wanna try something I've been thinking about, try deleting this key in the Registry;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContorlSet\Enum

I think it's basically doing the same thing you do w/ 9X/Me to get rid of all drivers.

If you've got Ghost, make an image and try the Registry key first. If it doesn't work, re-Ghost and remove manually from Device Manger.

The times I have heard this work...maybe they deleted all they could from dev manager..then they didnt even bother trying to boot into windows, lol...they just booted to the cd and did a "repair install"....(not the first "R" which is just the recovery console..go past that and let it look for current windows installs and choose to "repair" the current one)
