Montego II A3D Sound Card Intallation Error Red Hat 7.2

Hi,

I installed Red Hat 7.2
I want to install Montego II A3D Sound Card on my computer. I found drivers on
http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...lease_id=20020

I need some help installing sound card drivers. I un-tared the package, but when I go to "make install," I just get an error message.

"make.cc. Command not Found
make.*** [au_audio.o] error 127 "

I get this error whether or not I am running as root. Being a Linux newbie, I am totally lost. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

OJ

Thanks pbharris for your reply.

Could you be a bit more specific about "some development packages". Which ones? Why do you need them?

Aslo, what is "make and gcc and minimum." Where do I find them?

I'm sorry, I just need a bit more explanation.

Thanks,

OJ

no problem,
make is a tool for building code and gcc is a most excellent compiler. Both should be on the disk you used to install rh 7.2, disk 1 i think. those are the two big ones to be worrired about, you can see if they are already installed by using gnorpm and look on the left, highlight development and browse, or in a terminal (e.g. xterm, konsole, gnome-terminal) type rpm -q gcc and rpm -q make - if they are both installed let us know and we will figure it out, someone else here also got a votrex2 going, I think it was SpookyEddy

hello,
okay it sounds like everything is installed properly, I saw three drivers listed and I picked the one for the vortex 2, is this the ocrrect one? if not let me know so i can give it another shot with the correct one, it sounds like there may be an problem with the makefile...
