Speaker Quesion

i am planning on building a system and am putting a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card in it and was wondering what would be a good set of speakers to get to go along with this board. Im looking to spend about 200$ street price. I will mostly be doing mp3 but also some games movies video editing so basically i need an all around good set of speakers. I woudl prefer a 4.1 or a 5.1 set of speakers. Thanks any suggestions on the sound card would be appreciated as well.

If you could get your hands on a set of Klipsch Promedia 4.1's, that would be excellent. I highly reccommend all Klipsch sets. If not, Z-560's would do, although they don't perform nearly as well.

Well if u want to spend about $284 (I know a little high) u could go with the Logitech z-680's. Great speakers!

I originally looked at the z560 but i thouught that if i was spending more money on my sound card then i was on the speakers it wasnt really worth it. If i could afford it i would definalty get the Z680 but i dont think i am going to be able to afford them. The Klipsch Promedia GMX D-5.1 Personal Audio System Retail sound good but what is wit this hissing noise i have heard about. Is the sound quality definatly better in the klipsch than in the z560. What about the card, does anyone know anything bad about it. Only found the real high end card in reviews. Thanks

The audiology 2 is a good card certainly, but a card like the Turtle Beach or the AudioTrack Prodigy may be a better, cheaper choice. I know the Prodigy has 24-bit playback.recording and uses the same chip a the M-Audio Revolutions (but it has better drivers, meaning it's faster and better than the Revolutions). If you need APS, I don't think Creative officially supports it, so that might influence your decision. And the Turtle Beach has a HUGE fanbase but I can't say myself whether or not it's good.

Faster and better is a complete matter of opinion, and what you're doing with it.

The review I read of the card basically said that this card and the Revolutions were basically identical, but that the Prodigy's drivers were far superior and made the card much faster. I guess better is a matter of opinion, but they also said both cards sounded the same. So one is slow and good sounding, the other is fast and good sounding.

He said 200 max...

BTW, stay away from GMX speakers. The frisbee failure.
