Error message: RETURN OF THE KING (EA)

Hello! When I start up the EA game "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King", I can watch through the opening sequences (The THX logo, the copyright disclaimer, the introductory movies of Galadriel, the Helm's Deep Battle and Gandalf's return), then play through the first short action sequence as Gandalf. When I have completed that sequence, another video comes up where Gandalf speaks some wise words about Sauron's retribution being swift, and then the game drops to Windows with the following error message, and Gandalf's last word "echoing":

"An error has occured and RoTK cannot continue. Code C0000005 at 004801F9. The Lord of the Rings(tm); Return of the King will now exit."

The only option is to click "OK". Which isn't really what I want, I want to continue to play this game because the opening sequence was amazingly cool!

Can anyone help me deal with this problem?

what about skipping the sequences? does it then crash too?

and did you read the manaul? maybe it's a known problem!
or check for a patch!

i dont have the game so i just tell you what i normally do...

The opening sequence is the best thing about the game... after that it's all downhill.

Sounds like EA's typical sound issues/bugs. THeir EA Sports NFL madden 2004 is like that. JUST LIKE THAT> on a buddies P4 rig I built him. Crashes with sound echoing. He turns off hardware sound accell. and its o.k. 90% of time. Asus P4PE mobo 2.4B P4 512mb Samsung ddr333. EA SUCKS.

Most software companies are testing there games on the market instead of wasting money testing it themselves. I wouldn't be surprised.
